I deserved better, this stupid year was just kicking my ass. Assuring myself of this, I took a deep breath out, running a hand through my hair as I crossed the road, headed straight into the library, putting my phone into my jacket pocket. The town library was exceptionally big, not too large though, but I must admit could hold quite a lot of books as they were rows upon rows. I made my way straight to the books about fantasy creatures, realizing that they were surprisingly many. Young Adult fantasy is a thing...like a big deal, I noted reading through so interesting titles, but not the specific one I was looking for.

Creatures from god knows where poured in from a tear in the earth. A dimensional tear in space and time the men of science called it, but really who the fuck knows? All I know is they were bigger, stronger, looked nothing like us and they outnumbered us hundred to one.

Honestly, it was the way to escape from my worst reality. Whenever I was beaten or I got scolded by my aunt, I would just read one of those fantasy filled romance stories and ride myself away in the time travels of story. I walk through the moors and meadows together with them and also through all those magical stuffs. This all started when I had to read a book 'The kidnapper,' while I was in my middle school and write an essay about it. And the habit of reading never went away since then. Books have become one of my best friends since then.

Eventually, with my arms full, I found Nicholas still in the fantasy section. He was engrossed in a thick hardcover, his brow furrowed in concentration. “Find something good?” I asked, approaching him. “Possibly. But I think you might like this one.” He handed me a paperback with an image of a woman wielding a sword on the front. I read the title aloud. “‘The Lycan Chronicles.’ Hmm, never heard of it.” “It’s a fantasy series,” he explained, still flipping through his own book. “Great world-building, complex characters...” He glanced up and smirked. “Plus, it has some... steamy scenes.”

I know it’s kinda cliche but we all want young adult stories at times to remind us of our teenage days (LOL). I’m off to writing my new baby. I leaned forward slightly. “Try The Silent Corner, it’s about secrets that change everything.” He nodded, brows furrowed, then murmured, “Secrets change everything.” The bell jingled again. A teenager, headphones around his neck, glanced nervously at the counter. “Uh, do you have any fantasy? Like with dragons?”
