Romans & histoires Best Friend's Date

I found myself asking before I could even comprehend it. He smiled, “Because I’ll give you the best experience that deep down, you know no guy would be able to top.” My breath hitched at that, not only because of his statement but because his hand had left mine and his fingertips were trailing up my arm, his fingertips grazing my skin sent shivers down my spine. “So Katherine Thorne, would you go on a date with me?” I didn’t even need to think twice, “Yes Alexander, I will.”

How even Nathaniel bumped fists with him as he passed. Still, she kept sneaking glances at Ethan. He never looked her way again. What was most frustrating was that she couldn't even read his expression. Later, when she walked Ryan to the porch, he turned to her. " I forgot to ask earlier, your coming to the Anniversary gala this evening also, right?" "oh...yeah" Maya replied “That will be so great,” he said, halting just before the porch steps. “If you'll be willing and if no one else have asked you out, I will want you to be my date.”

Near nine Adrian texted. You resting? Yes. How does the quiet feel? Strange. But better. Strange is fine. A pause, then: Can I take you somewhere on Sunday? Daylight. No meetings. I read it twice. Where? A place I go when I need my head clear. You can say no. I didn’t say no. Okay. His reply came fast. I’ll pick you up at eleven. I put the phone down and stared at the ceiling. The audio war was over. Damien had signed. Bella was outside the deal. My shop was still standing.

I said. "Yes," Rabia stayed silent. "Now listen. The date was not that type of date..it was just a friendly date" I told her. "Friendly date? With Sahir? What even haha" She chuckled. "It means two friends spend time together, catch up a lot of things about each other.." I felt irritated. "So did you kiss him? Don't hide it from me " She asked. "Oh, my Allah Rabi...I said it was a friendly date..F R I E N D L Y " I yelled at her.

It didn’t touch his eyes. I nodded, lips pressed tight. Say something. Anything. Don’t just stand there like a mute idiot. “So…” I forced out. “You said something about running late for a date.” He rubbed the back of his neck. That motion pulled his shirt tight across his shoulders. “Yeah.” He said. “Blind date. My friend set it up. Swore that she was ‘prefect’” My stomach twisted in a sharp and weird way. “Same.” His brows shot up. “No way.”

I gritted my teeth, still scowling at him. "Well..." He pressed his lips, and thought of his next words to say, "We can actually bring a date on this banquet, and..." "You're bringing me as your date?" I groaned. "Actually, I already asked Jane to be my date," He said, looking at Jane and Ed. My best friend nodded in confirmation. I raised my brows, and looked at Ed, "So, you'll bring me as your date?" He shook his head, "Miss Rachel is my date," he said, smiling as he mentioned Albert's ten years old sister."

he wanted to know. I bit my lip, wishing I hadn’t laughed because now I did not know what to say. I would rather the topic ended. “It’s just funny because we are best friends,” I pointed out. The best friend line is always the best way to end this type of awkwardness. And I thought it worked because Todd responded with a huff and then was silent for a few moments until we were both seated in his car. He turned to me, a serious look on his face. “What do you think about being my date to the dance this Friday?” he asked, with a seriousness that made this question heavier than it already was.

“I’ll make time this week so we can do all that we planned to do.” “Liv, you don’t have to stress yourself….” “I want to.” She said and then she put an arm around me. “I miss my best friend.” “I miss my best friend too.” I told her softly. “So, what do you say bestie. Would you be my date to the homecoming dance?” She asked me with one raised eyebrow. How did we get here? I wondered. I wanted to tell her about Brad and I. I needed to but somehow this whole conversation had changed things.

“You’re going to dislocate my shoulder Quinn.” “I don’t care,” she said breathlessly. Of course she doesn't. “My best friend is dating the hottest, scariest man on the planet.” She paused, then smirked. “Also, I'm so glad you’ve officially returned to your senses. Girls were queuing and waiting for you to fuck this up.” I rolled my eyes again, but I won't deny she's right. "Now,” she continued dramatically, “all that’s left is seducing Lysander so we can go on a double date.”

“Well, we’re not technically dating yet. It’s just a date. Like, a singular date.” “Well, when is this singular date?” I wanted to do my best to be supportive. Jaz was back in my life. “Saturday morning, actually. As soon as this jail bird busts out.” “Dude!” I said. “You’re… you’re going on a day-date?” I knew this was a measure only reserved for the most special occasions. He had only used it once before. “Yup.” He smiled happily. “I really hope it goes well. She’s just a good friend, you know? Easy to hang out with. I like spending time with her.”
