Histories, myths, philosophies—every book was a whisper of the past. Ashara’s gaze stopped on a particular section on the far wall, its books older, darker in design, and faintly ominous. Something about the curling silver script caught her attention. One of the titles read: Nocturnae Vitae: The Legacy of the Blood Born. Her breath hitched. “Vampires?” she murmured, tilting her head.

Finally, she found the one she was looking for. Layla managed to grab the book and add it to her stack in her arms when her eyes caught sight of something. A book stood out among the rest. It was bound with dark brown leather and had brandished designs on the spine. The title read - Malleus Vampiro: A Treatise on Vampires. Placing her other books on the floor, Layla pulled the leather-bound book from its home amongst the others and opened it. As her eyes skimmed the pages, she caught a couple of words; SHADOW STALKERS, BLOODSUCKER, PHANTOMS.

Why the vampire felt the need to gorge himself in a substance that neither affects nor sustains him, Rose didn't know. "Father Benedict didn't say---I mean, why...why so early? What made him change his mind?" Hunter continued to ramble, scratching at his bald head. He gasped, "Oh, God. Don't tell me...the world is ending, isn't it?" Taking a deep breath, Rose scoffed at the vampire, "What gave that away? The meteors that will hit this place in an hour?" "No, I mean. This time, it's really ending, right? His wrinkled face looked like it was crawling with countless wriggling worms. I shuddered and stepped back, whispering to Silvia, "Good thing I've got you. This place is terrifying." She snorted and suddenly shoved me forward, straight toward George. With an icy laugh, she said, "This pretty boy will make a great offering. You're going to love him." Before I could react, George gestured, and several eerie puppets stepped forward to pin me down and drain my blood. A sharp bell rang out, echoing through the night.

"Take it now. It is time." I woke up with a start, my heart racing. As I sat up in bed, I fiddled with my bracelet to calm my nerves. I glanced at the clock, 12:05. I really needed to stop watching horror movies. But despite the terror that still lingered in my mind, I couldn't help feeling a sense of awe at the mysterious voice that had called out to me. Was it a ghost? A deity? Or just my overactive imagination?
