THE HOSTAGE'S DILEMMA
My face turns red as I look at the healthy breakfast Aaron’s having, and the greasy meal I have every day is suddenly embarrassing.
“I’ll have what he’s having,” I squeak.
For the first time ever, Stella laughs, but she quickly recovers. “Sure, I’ll make you a plate.”
I quickly sit a little farther from Aaron and drum my fingers on the table. He looks all serious in the intimidating suit, with the tab on his hand, probably going through a document. Stella drops a plate in front of me, and they’re sandwiches. She keeps a hot cup of cocoa beside the plate, and I almost cry in gratitude. She shakes her head at me before heading off. This woman loves me.
