Amelia's POV. For decades, my family has been known for producing Luna, Alpha, and Omegas. However, I am an exception. A beta born into Luna has no place in this cruel society. From childhood to now, I have been scorned by my fellow friends and the people in the pack. Even my own family detests me.

But she pumped a rush in my veins no matter how hard I tried to stop it. I broke eye contacts with Louis and nodded as I glanced at the floor and smacked my lips. “My pack's security is still my top priority, Louis. I will protect everyone when need arrives but I am not sending Lena away or keeping her prisoner. End of discussion,” my voice shook through the walls, prompting his shoulders to drop as he leaned back and looked away. “Yes Alpha,” he muttered and straightened his shoulders. He dismissed every other thoughts he wanted to point out and proceeded to take his leave.

But for Alex, he automatically knew who it was as he immediately recognized his white hoodie that got splattered with paint in the colors of the rainbow. He scrolled up and as the caption, he simply had a blue heart emoji. "Blue."

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and spoke. "My name is Livvy, Livvy Gilbert, daughter of Beta Jase Gilbert of the Blue Moon Pack. I was supposed to take over as the next Beta unless I found out I was mated to someone of the same rank from a different pack or an Alpha, to where I would be named their Luna." I sighed deeply before opening my eyes. I hadn't told anyone that I was mated to him, not to our Alpha. I'm sure everyone knows, or most, whether it was believed or not was a different story though.

My wolf cries out again inside my head, our chest now fulling with an excruciating burning sensation. My tapetum lucidum eyes see them clearly, in the darkened room. The Alpha of Mount White Stone Pack is kissing someone on his bed, naked, but the person does not see me, for she’s on her back, under him, the top of her head in my direction and my stomach drops to the floor. The woman’s legs hike up and she trusts her waist upwards. “Oh, Soren - hmm, now,” the woman says. Even in her throaty gasping, I know her voice. It’s Beta Will’s daughter. Beth.

But I was going to stay here to see the end of it. “The Beta… he… the Beta asked me to… to… he… he mentioned that his aunt needed it for health purposes. I… he said she has the same fertility issues as the Luna, so… I… I didn't even take much… it was so small, and to God, I just wanted to help his aunt. It wasn't… I'm sorry. ALEXANDER She looked nothing like someone who had experienced a near-death ordeal, nor like someone who had spent months in exile. Her dress was elegant and exquisite. “Alpha, should we still go on with the crowning of the Luna?” Lucky asked. I turned to look at Alpha Damon’s childhood friend. Others might not know, but I was aware of the unspoken bond between him and Lucky. His calmness and expressionless face made me uneasy. I furrowed my brows, disturbed by how unnatural his reaction seemed.

“Alert me if anything changes.” As I descended the stairs leading to my lab, I knew I didn't have much time. Lumina, based on what my informants told me, works by destabilising the normal biology of the body. And it wasn't something that could be countered easily. Lira's case was worse. She had barely taken her full form as a gamma. I didn't even know where to start. What rank would she wake up to? My hands shook as I scanned the labels, pulling bottles closer to inspect them. I hadn't admitted it since they arrived, but Lumina scared me. It had the power to potentially end our kind. And worse, in the hands of my brother, we were doomed.
