Beta Reading Definition Novels & Stories

Even though I can take down the enemy on my own with the help of my people, this man and his pack need me. I know and that’s why I tried to reach out to him but his lukewarm response made it hard to take him seriously. “I have to agree with you on that. You have been a fool for letting that bastard do more than a beta is supposed to. You practically made it easy for him to overdream.” I told him and he nodded. “He is a beta with omega blood. I am not one to use hierarchy among shifters but in this case, I think it needs to be pointed out.”

A few heads nod at that. Then I shift my gaze to the man who had asked the next question. "Let's hear from you, my friend." He straightens slightly, emboldened now that some structure had returned to the setting. "Why abandon the Beta title, Alpha? It has defined pack leadership tradition for generations." "I have abandoned nothing," I reply evenly. "The role of a Beta is rooted in tradition–loyalty, strength, and direct support in both leadership and battle. Those qualities remain valuable always."

She saw five steps ahead while others were still reacting to the first move. Still, I said nothing. I gave no warnings. No directions. Let them figure it out. Two wolves. Two roles. Each placed where they were weakest. Let’s see who rises… And who folds. Let the test begin. Who’s worthy of being my Beta?

"You are supposed to agree with everything I say and support me as your Alpha." Caleb put his hands up and bowed his head slightly to appease my wolf. "I am your Beta, and I will always have your back…but I am here to be honest with you and to counsel you on what is best overall for you, our people, and the people we control." I grumbled and looked down at the maps, but I knew he was right. We had been close our entire childhoods, but the main reason I selected him as my Beta was because I knew he would challenge me and give me advice.

Alpha Cedric continued, “ But he should allow the elders by constitution to do the voting in order to give him a befitting beta. Surely, the beta must clearly be above this age. The beta goes to meetings, makes deals and represents the packs in the council of packs. And the beta must also report to the alpha king.” “Is that true?” I looked at everyone's face, maybe, just maybe someone would counter it, that it was all fallacy. There is a bye-law or something statutory or whatever. Something I can hold on to, not this garbage they are feeding me with. How come my father did not tell me this? I looked into their faces like someone between the devil and blue sea. I coughed out little, as thick

She looked like a hurt puppy, not a Beta. Zacharias could not leave her alone. He took her to the healing chamber to patch her up. "It's her fault you're injured. I'll deal with this in her place." Once Yvonne was patched up, Zacharias tried to come back to the forest, but this time, Yvonne tugged at his shirt before he could leave. "Alpha, you're the pack's most important person. The woods are dangerous at night. I'm your Beta. I can't allow you to tread those grounds alone."

Lynexia returned to her plate and picked at her food. “So, Lynexia, what do you think of your new home?” Xander questioned. “Its nice.” she responded not looking up. “How did you sleep?” Ginger questioned. “Fine, I guess.” the young girl shrugged. “How did you spend your day?” the older woman asked. “I looked around the apartment, took a nap, and read a couple of books.” Lynexia explained. “Oh, what books did you read?” Ginger perked up. “Well, I actually found a set of books that said they were published right here. The author was listed as Selinas Astrea.” Lynexia responded. “A very good writer. They tell great stories that keep the legends of wolves through the generations.” Xander states

“Look, Aurelia. I’m just trying to look out for you….” “Oh stop, Rune!” She bellowed. “I am overly capable of taking care of myself! Why the fuck do you care? You aren’t my boyfriend or anything!” I clenched my jaw. She was right. I wasn’t her boyfriend. I was just her Beta—a role I had taken just so I could look after her. But now it seemed like I wasn’t ever going to be anything but that in her eyes. Aurelia’s eyes were still burning in rage, and when she stared at mine, they faltered—a flicker of guilt behind the rage. She muttered something intelligent before going back to the dresser. And that was the end of the conversation.

“ Nope, I wouldn’t—— I definitely wouldn’t want you to torture your own pack mates, you are a protector D. If you touch the pack mates you would have to let go of your position as the beta of the pack.” A beta was born to protect while an Alpha was born to lead, the roles were determined and they couldn’t do anything to change them. Diskant snorted. “ Not like I wanted to be a beta, I am only here because of you. If you didn’t ask me, I wouldn’t have agreed to take this responsibility no matter what.” Then he paused and threw his arm back over the head of the chair and cocked a brow. “ why is it that you are doubting everyone but not me? I can be CAT impersonating as Diskant, you know?”
