I’ve been working for Beta Trevor for three years. Over that time, I’ve created spells and potions to keep his daughter, Gwen, out of trouble and keep his Alpha, Alpha Carter, unaware of what his daughter is really doing. Beta Trevor wants her to be the next Beta and if his Alpha knew what a conniving, manipulative, abusive person she was, he’d either demote her or more likely, he’d banish her from their pack.

"Susan, you were the Luna. Explain to me what the role of a Beta werewolf is." Though I was still at a loss with why he was requesting me to do so, I answered, “Beta werewolves are werewolves who are basically their Alpha's right-hand. 'Second-in-command' who closely support the Alphas, serve as their advisors or act as protectors and enforcers of the pack's rules under the Alpha's command. Even assume leadership should the Alpha be absent from the pack for any reason, if their heir or heiress cannot do the job. In some cases, they even supervise training for the minor werewolves, guiding them on how to be better for their pack."

The Editor pointed to the screens. The golden ink on the monitors began to turn **Black**. "He thinks he's the Author, but he's just the 'Beta Tester' for the next version of the world. We needed someone with his level of grief to provide the 'Emotional Texture' for Season 3. And you, Kaima... you provided the 'Motivation.'"

" You may not want anything from me Sky. But I want something from you. And till I get it back. I am afraid you can't escape from here this time." " What...what do you want from me?" I ask. Clenching my fists. His next words making me go still. " I want you to rejoin. And earn your position back as the Beta of not just the Alpha of Redmoon pack. But that of the King of the werewolves." " I want my Beta girl back Sky." I blink. Staring into his eyes. The determination in his eyes making me feel weak. Why is he so adamant to only have me as his Beta? I am sure he will find better warriors than me.

I tried to mind l**k her but I guess wolfsbane has entered my system. From the corner of my eye I saw Alpha looking at Maria too. Fuck. “As all of you think Beta deserves the punishment, I want someone to volunteer. Someone who is willing to whip the Beta, punish him for his sins” he spoke, changing his voice in a polite version. ‘Not even a grasshopper chirped…’ there comes the leo again. “Oh come on, anyone who would like to come forward willingly?” he persuaded the audience. ‘Alex I got you’ said Leo getting ready to surface in an emergency.

From what she knew, Beta's had to work for it after they made it through the 30 day trial. "No, can I tell you something?" He asked. Juliette nodded. "Well, not many people know it, but Beta's are only created. Beta's are a type of Werewolf, not a second in command. If the King dies, I will not take over his role, but I will stay the Beta," he explained, Juliette frowned. "That's not what I was told." "Beta's are just a shield. We came much before the Alpha's did. Our blood created the Alpha species, which now rule...We were created from a mutation in human genes, which we like to call lycanthropy."

It's the watcher who should be worried. The creak of a floorboard draws me out of my thoughts. I sigh in relief. Dylan. It's too dark to see much except an outline, but I don't bother turning on the light. "There you are. Come back to bed." He doesn't respond. Dylan?'" The breath seems to freeze in my lungs. That's not Dylan. I can tell from the way he moves. Dylan's movements are fluid, like a cat. The silhouette in front of me takes another step forward. The movement is undoubtedly human, with none of the werewolf grace I've become accustomed to.

My fury ignited into something violent, something primal. "He is ignoring me." I seethed internally to my brooding wolf. "Wouldn't you if it meant pissing Neo off?" Payne grunted, playing devil's advocate. The realization was an ugly, burning thing in my gut. I was their Beta. I had earned my place through blood and battle, and yet they still defied me for fear of our Alpha's control. I wanted to blame them, to rip them apart for their disobedience. But I knew better.

“He was only doing his job.” “His job?” I repeated with a short laugh, brushing my fingers through my hair as I tried to steady my temper. My voice came out low but filled with heat. “His job isn’t to help you, Elaris.” I took a slow step toward her. “He’s my beta. Mine. Not yours!” I finally raised my voice, the words rolling out like thunder in the room.
