At that, the wolf in front of her turned his glare to me, like I was the one who was in the wrong. "Do not speak of my mate in this way, human." He growled at me. Before I could open my mouth to call him a piece of shit for protecting this hearless bitch, Travis came out of nowhere and grabbed him by the throat, lifting him off the ground by at least a foot. "Talk to my mate like that again and I will rip your balls off with my bare hands." He hissed at him. I knew Travis was the Beta, which apparantly gave him more power than this wolf I had not yet met, so he immediately began to beg.

That must be a pretty life-changing thing to go through.” James scowls at the mention of the pack and blows out a frustrated breath. “I guess. I wish I wasn’t part of the pack at all. I wish I was a rogue, like you.”

Carefully, I sat next to him, placed the books on the table close to us and averted my gaze at him. "A Beta is a werewolf who is the second in command to the Alpha. In the Alpha's absence, he takes up the role of the alpha and performs all activities needed" Conri explained softly to my understanding. "Oh" I muttered. "Understand now?" I didn't reply but nodded. This isn't something so hard that my human brain can't be able to process it faster. "So you are Nelson Beta as soon as he is made Alpha?" I asked him. "Yes…" Conri paused, "My duty as beta strikes as soon as he is made Alpha"

Beta Andrew answers in a gentle tone. “Hey, Beta. Are you looking for a rogue?” I asked. “Yes! Wait, what?” He asked in a concerned tone. “He is in our home. Please, come and get him?” I replied and I heard him growl on the other side. “You didn't receive the message to be careful?” He asked me, and I sighed. “Beta!
