“Record,” Mara says, snapping chalk into the slate. “Alpha Rose and Alpha Xander, co-Alpha of Blue Light, oath-bound, bond-acknowledged by pack, challenge resolved.” She looks up then, eyes bright for a heartbeat, and smiles like she forgot not to.
