Our revenge sat just meters ahead, half-asleep and unaware.
We stripped the shift from our skin, bones cracking, stretching, reforming—fur bursting out, claws unsheathing, our growls low and rumbling.
The beast inside was hungry.
I launched first.
The first guard didn’t even have time to turn. I leapt, fangs tearing into his neck, claws raking down his chest like paper. His scream was cut short by the crunch of my jaws clamping down. His body twitched once. Done.
