I was more than pretty
I was flipping through a fabric catalogue when two junior designers breezed in, all glossy hair and excitement, their laughter echoing off the walls.
“Did you see him this morning?” one of them asked breathlessly.
“Soren Bellandi?” the other replied, dropping her tote. “Of course I did. He got out of a black sedan and walked in like he owned the sky.”
They laughed, that bright, nervous kind of laughter people use when they’re half in awe, half in fantasy.
I didn’t look up, but I listened.
“I looked him up,” the first one said. “His father runs Bellandi Holdings in Europe. His mother used to be a couture legend in Milan. He’s practically fashion royalty.”
