I mutter, throwing the pieces of the stick I have been mangling into the flames. “Mmm,” Abe says. I look across the fire at Billy who is staring dagger in Abe’s direction and I can’t help but snort a laugh. Billy asked to have Abe with him. He doesn’t trust Abe at all and is waiting for the moment he screws up so he can nail him in the face. Once upon a time, Billy was a loner who found Axel in the woods and fixed him up. The two of them are what real brothers should be.

Billy said. Lawrence looked up. Goldman slowly stirred the jar of shaving cream as he watched. “Sure, come in,” Dalton said and stepped aside to let Billy in. He closed the door. “Hello, gentlemen,” Billy greeted happily. “Hey,” everyone said in a low voice. Patty stuck her head out of the kitchen doorway. Everyone was surprised to see Billy because he really had no reason to come to their cabin. He was a rich kid and they were working men. Billy wore blue jeans and a yellow shirt with a collar. His feet sported the new Air Jordan’s.

Kevin asks. I feel extremely angry. “He came out soon after you guys left,” I say controlling myself. “And he isn't gay.” “He isn't? Are you sure? Then why was he staring at you?” Amelia asks. “He had a close friend called Alex who looked like me. He died. That was why he was staring at me,” I explain. I am sure that's a true story. The first word he uttered on seeing me yesterday was Alex. So he might actually had a friend who looked like me. Or else why would someone stare at their bully?

I am only 18. “Fine,” he answered as he veered off the road towards the lit-up fairground. “Don’t do anything stupid,” he said to us all. To which we all laugh. We walked up to the fair. Billy Bob’s Fair is the sign above the entrance. The music is loud, especially for sensitive ears. The place stinks of stale popcorn and fried meat. But that doesn’t stop us. We have never been to a fair before, and we have never been to the human world.

Steve, who cannot imagine a life without him, is ready to do whatever it takes to bring him back. Maggie, who he supported no matter what, is ready to stand by his side. Matthew, his protective brother, promised to save him from bullies when they were young and now it's time to fulfill that promise. Even Toby, who got angry with him, thinks he's the nicest person he's ever met. And then there's River, who he helped out of her jail. And lastly, Henry, who owes his life to Jeremy, is ready to repay the debt.
