Maybe I’d been blind.
I turned and headed back for the packhouse, my boots hitting the soil with each step. A couple of young wolves were sparring in the open yard, practicing battle moves. They looked up and paused as I neared them, bowing slightly. “Quick on your feet, good work,” I said, nodding, and kept moving.
A birthmark.
One that even Sara couldn’t explain.
That meant it had to be old. Maybe ancient. Something rare. Something hidden. Or maybe it meant nothing and she was just overreacting.
