“What do you people think you are doing?” Abe acted bravely and asked. “This is the territory of the Western Empire! You aren’t welcome here” the young prince tried to talk him and his friends out of their predicament. “Oh? So where are we welcome?” one of the black cloaked men asked. Unlike the others there was no sword symbol on his cloak. Instead there was a red colored scar in the shape of a sword that run across his face and over his left eye. It signified that he had the greatest authority amongst the Dark Kingdom wielders here. It was proof that he was at the peak of the mortal realm.

The inside was just as dreary as the outside and void of any color other than shades of gray and black. "It is no wonder you all are so blah," I said softly and heard a chair move out before a long table with high chairs lined up on the other side. "Lord Cayden has selected these for you, my lord. He wished for you to choose one for alteration." Even in my groggy state, the beauty of the cloaks was apparent. Though undeniably masculine in their cut and length, each was adorned with intricate and unique designs. My eyes carefully scanned the array of colors and patterns before settling on a cloak of deep black. I pointed to it, and with practiced efficiency, the maids dismissed the others, gently lifting the chosen garment and laying it reverently on the bed beside me.

Underneath the cloak were bloodstained clothes, and the open collar revealed a tattooed neck. He hung his hand, holding a long sword in his hand, the tip of the sword sticking to the ground, making a "rustling" sound. Behind him was Shaykh, who looked clean-cut and thin.

I was just about to comment on the progress of the new seedlings when a flicker of movement caught my eye. “Malcolm, stop,” I said, my voice low and urgent. He hit the brakes, his instincts immediately on high alert. “What wrong?” I pointed toward the far end of the compound, where the medicinal herbs were grown.
