Seriously, how is this not more common knowledge? The author is Yuki Tabata. That name should be on every shonen fan's radar.
He hasn't done a massive library of other stuff, which I think actually works in his favor. His main other series is the two-volume 'Hungry Joker', which was axed super early. You can see the seeds of 'Black Clover' there though—the scientific magic system, the ambitious world-building. It's like a prototype. I respect that he just went back, figured out what worked, and then absolutely nailed it with Asta's story. He’s a grinder, not a one-hit wonder who got lucky.
He also did a one-shot called 'Black Clover 0', but that's more of a direct prelude. Honestly, his whole career feels like a buildup to 'Black Clover', and seeing that focused journey is pretty inspiring.
