American Book Authors Novels & Stories

Grace says, placing a plate of French toast with syrup and raspberries. “I do, thank you so much,” I say, smiling at the yummy breakfast in front of me. “You are welcome, and tell me, dear, where are you from? You might be dark-skinned, but you don’t have a black American accent,” Grace says, probably trying to make some talk with me, which I don’t mind because she seems very friendly. I am about to answer her when Ethan beats me to it

he stated and went back to his phone. Then we had literature. The topic was classic genre. “Which English authors you can name from classic genre?” Mr. Adams asked. I raised my hand, but so did Raf, which caught me off guard. “Raf, please name them!” teacher asked. “Jane Austen, sisters Brontes, Charles Dickens and of course, William Shakespeare,” Raf stated. “Great! Who is your favorite author?”

“List of American authors. Sign up for whoever you want, read three of their books, write a report on each, and put together an overall analysis at the end. First come, first served — if your favorite’s taken, pick someone else.” The sheet worked its way around the room and reached her last, as things usually did. All the authors she knew were gone — Steinbeck, Hemingway, Morrison, all claimed. She scanned what was left and found an obscure name she didn’t recognize, some regional writer from the fifties whose work apparently hadn’t been assigned in years. She wrote her name next to it and passed the sheet back up. The bell rang. She was packed and out the door before most of the class had p

James sat in his cane chair with his eyes closed and feet resting on the table as he listened to the sound of two goats in his backyard, bleating. The goats were gifts from Osinala which arrived very early in the morning before he could say the Lord's Prayer and brush his teeth. He looked forward to another meeting in the village square when he had regained his confidence and was strong enough to defend his cause. He stood up now and walked to the small pile of books he had arranged last night in search of an exemplary text that would fascinate his mind and set him in the right mood. Some weeks ago, he had considered writing a book about his trip to Africa. Unlike all the books he had read,

Our connection strengthens with each shared story. We discover common ground in music, movies, and books. I couldn't help but wonder if this was the same man acting tough a few minutes ago. "Favorite author?" Lucas asked. "Gabriel García Márquez," I replied as I smiled, remembering some of the other authors that I love. Authors like Chinua Achebe who is from Nigeria. An African country. Lucas's eyes light up. "Love One Hundred Years of Solitude." Lucas stands, stretching. "Want to grab some fresh air?"

She picked up many books individually and made a pile of them. "When will you read so many books?" Nina asked surprisingly. "When your boss is not around," Elaina winked and started looking for books again. She picked up books from famous authors like Jane Austin, Sarah, Colleen Hoover, and Anna Huang. Nina shook her head and made her way toward the exit.

But as he was about to finally turn completely around, I notice that little smirk on his face and I swear, wanted to pull out his hair whenever I have the chance to. “Nothing hard. Just Authors mentioned in the book I told you to read.” With a nodding head, I spent few seconds to organize my thoughts and to clear any distractions inside my mind and become someone who I really was when it comes to academics. I cleared my throat first before I started to speak. “I am dropping an American novelist, short-story writer, journalist, and sportsman, Mister.” I answered. “Okay, who is that person?”

At that time, a tall, brown-skinned, curly hair man who was aged about 40 was trying to show him the best book he had got on his display stand. Lin looked at the book and scanned it with much attention. He did not seem to notice other passers-by who cast a glance at him. Among the books, he saw a wide range of good English novels of George Orwell, Amy Tan, Amitav Gosh, Wendy Law-Yone, and many others. At a time, Lin found a book he was looking for. It was a book titled "Saving Fish From Drowning" written by Amy Tan. Then, a bargain between them settled, and Lin happily left behind the smiling bookseller, who held some notes in his hand.

Blaze jostled. "I knew I would get along well with you." Emerald cracked a small smile. "You love reading books?" When he nodded, she asked, "Who is your favorite author?" "I have tons of favorites. Some of them are, Napoleon Hill, Robert Kiyosaki, Benjamin Graham, Peter Thiel, Emerald Relish, Ayn Rand, Chris Guillebeau, Tony Robbins, and many more." Emerald is amazed by his knowledge of most of the good authors. "I noticed most of those authors wrote classic or business books, but one of the names seems unusual," Emerald said.
