I wasn't dumb to not notice it. I was about to leave when a particular object grabbed my attention. More like a book which had been off limits to me. The Grimoire of Eldritch enchantments. Altars were drawn all around the room and images of demons and angels were drawn on the walls. On one side of the room, there were groups of people holding hands and chanting. On the other side, some people were sitting on the benches murmuring to themselves as if memorising the spells. "Isn't black magic illegal? " I asked William confused.

Inside, among old letters, used candles, and an empty vial with traces of silvery liquid, it was there: the grimoire. It was ancient, with yellowed pages and frayed edges. The smell of dried herbs and melted wax still clung to its leaves. Susan opened it, flipping through quickly, her green eyes searching for any reference to a spell for breaking bonds, neutralizing essence, or dissipating a mark. But what she found made her choke on her own breath.
