I read in a book yesterday that for werewolves this is a sign of absolute submission. The Alphas behind us stay quiet, having already heard about the Death Squad’s intentions. Everyone watches in complete silence as the guys get up one by one and place a light kiss to the back of my hand as they pledge their loyalty to me. Well almost everyone. Leo growls lowly each time a guy approaches me. “We have received the news on Commander’s death. Our loyalty lies with you now.” One of the guys speaks. “My name’s Steele, this is Claw. We are in charge of this team.” I give him a slight nod in recognition as he introduces himself and his friend.

The venue behind the Pack-house is even worse and many of the guests are making whispered comments about it. “Why is there a Squad from the Elders walking around?” Pearl asks and another Luna answers her question. “They are here for a learning experience, the Elders do this more often and I must say that it is good for them to see how an event like this works.” She says and Pearl is nodding her head at the Luna’s answer. Their gear is tailor-made for each member of the Squad, it is an almost completely black outfit and it has red accents along the sides of the arms and legs. You can only see them on their arms if their coat is off and so far I haven’t seen anyone wearing their coat.

Carmel was the only tracker out of the trainees, so Moira knew their team had a huge advantage if it became a drawn-out hunt for the other teams. The referees who were to be stationed in the forest had already been dispatched. Each squad was also going to have one with them who had the scarves for the members who were eliminated as well as a spare set of clothes for each of them and basic first aid supplies. The referees took the squads to different areas outside of the forest so they could not see, hear, or smell where the other teams entered.
