As Jenna and Logan celebrated their victory, they suddenly heard a loud roar coming from the forest. They looked up and saw a huge, black wolf standing at the edge of the clearing. The wolf's eyes glowed yellow, and it snarled at Jenna and Logan. Jenna felt her heart skip a beat. She knew that this was no ordinary wolf—it was an Alpha werewolf, and it was here for revenge.

Logan looked up and saw that the moon was high in the sky, a crescent that hung like a lantern among the clouds. The bodies of the wolves had been wrapped in pure white cloth and placed on the pyre. The families of the deceased and other wolves in the pack had gathered around, silently waiting for him. When he got to their midst, they bowed and murmured greetings, and he dismissed then with a wave. He walked over to the pyres, where his beta and gamma were waiting alongside a number of other male wolves. He bowed silently to them and turned to the people.

Why hadn’t I run screaming yet? “Sarah, there are only six white wolves in the world—one on each major continent. White wolves are believed to be direct descendants of the Moon Goddess herself. That’s where our coat color comes from. All packs across the continents acknowledge the authority of white wolves, out of ancient reverence. We mediate disputes and regularly meet with Alphas from everywhere.” I nodded, following—but what did this have to do with rejecting me?

“Where’d you learn that?” “High school,” Jake said, slamming it into gear. “Long story.” Tyres shrieked on torn asphalt. The W.R.X. launched. Wolves pounded after them, then one by one peeled off, howls echoing under concrete. At the head of the pack, a scarred she-wolf—taller, broader—snarled, snapping at a male that edged too close. They didn’t follow. They watched. They always watched. Jake tore a glance in the mirror. Nothing but yellow eyes and patient rage.

How had they gotten so close without me sensing them? I cursed myself for my lapse in vigilance. The relief of escaping Randy had blinded me to the dangers of these unfamiliar woods. There were too many of them. My heart raced as I took in their numbers—this wasn’t a rogue ambush. These wolves belonged to a pack. Their scent carried strength and unity, and judging by their size and discipline, they were Betas. Fierce, loyal, and utterly unforgiving.

It was in this pack that a girl was born to a common werewolf named Malrik.

I asked him, smirking. “Thats how I want everyone who has ever bullied me to feel. I want them to look upon my beautiful white wolf and tremble in fear.” I told him, recalling how Jarvis had white furs when I looked at my paws. I knew mom and Ariana has grey wolves. It’ll be amazing when they find out that mine is pure and absolutely stunning. I have a rare wolf, it’s called the wolf of the moon goddess, and she is so beautiful.
