Blackwood Campus Novels & Stories

Black Ridge students really lived like celebrities. Lisa and I entered one of the cars with a few other students before heading toward Adrian's house. Or a mansion maybe. Because there was absolutely no way that place could be called a normal house. The moment we arrived, my eyes widened slightly. Lights decorated the massive building beautifully while expensive cars filled the large compound. Music blasted loudly from inside, students crowded almost everywhere. Some stood near the pool while others danced around laughing with drinks in their hands. “This is insane,” I muttered quietly. Lisa grinned proudly. “Welcome to Adrian Black's world.”

“Then we do what we must.” Maxwell glanced at me. “You ready for this?” I wasn’t sure anyone could be ready for what we were about to do. But there was no time for hesitation. I squared my shoulders. “Let’s go.” --- The Blackwood estate loomed ahead, its towering gates shut tight. The once-grand mansion had fallen into disrepair after the war, its windows dark, its gardens overgrown. But beneath it lay the vault—one of the most heavily guarded places in the supernatural world.

The ancient Blackwood Hall stood deep in the old-growth forest, a massive stone structure carved into the cliffs overlooking the Sound. Torches flickered along the walls, casting long shadows over the gathered Alphas. The air was thick with power — dominant scents clashing like thunder, the metallic tang of barely-contained violence heavy on every breath.

The smell of decay hung in the air, sharp and putrid, making it hard to breathe.

Ethan naturally gave him face. "You know what I do—always out poaching talent." "Poaching, huh?" Damon gave me a meaningful glance. His smile was mocking, almost sneering. "Your standards seem a little low these days." "What do you mean? Serena's highly sought after in the industry!" Damon didn't bite. "You probably haven't heard. Blackwood Business just brought in top talent from abroad—PhD from Meridona Wellington–Turner School of Business, formerly at Summit Bank. Now director of Investment Department Three."

The five brothers stood under the green canvas awning of a coffee shop across the street from a tall, ancient stone building with massive granite pillars. "That's the place," Thomas said, pointing a finger toward a heavy iron side door marked with a small brass plate: THE BLACKWOOD FOUNDATION. "The auction room is two levels down, behind the old vault door." Noah adjusted the collar of his coat, pulling his hat low over his forehead. He looked at his four brothers standing around him in the shadows of the awning.

With that, he shot me some goofy finger guns and walked away with a wave. Well, so far, so good. I’d gotten my shopping done, gotten my meal card for the cafeteria, and my dorm essentials from Jason, and all I had to do was meet my roommate and get settled. With a deep breath, I opened the door and stepped in. University of Briarwood was located in the middle of a fairly large university town in the middle of a forest. There was a pretty big city nearby, just over the mountains surrounding the campus town. The university was built as a replica of the University of Oxford, all the way from England, so the buildings looked pretty Gothic, including the dorms.
