THE KING’S UNWANTED BABY MAMA
“I appreciate you more than you know. I’m starving.”
Just then, my phone rings.
Blake.
I smile without thinking.
He’s been there quietly, steadily. The only friend who checked in without asking too many questions, who listened without judgment. I told him about the birth, where I’m staying, and he swore—swore—that he wouldn’t let a word slip to anyone.
I pick up the call. “Hey.”
His voice is warm, familiar. He tells me he’s coming to Athens tomorrow, that he’s already booked a place to stay. “It’s this new hotel I found online, named Deluxe,” he says. “Looks grand. Really grand.”
