The Billionaire's Regret
If she were lying, her mouth would have sprinted ahead by now.
“You think I’m blaming you?” My voice came out rough, like my throat hurt.
She raised both hands a little, tablet still in one. “If I were you, I’d blame everyone,” she said honestly. “Including me, including whoever designed this building, including God.”
The corner of my mouth moved the tiniest bit. Almost a smile, but it snapped in half before forming.
“I’ve been blaming God since last night,” I replied. “Relax. You’re not on the list yet.”
