Her full weight crashes into me, and I stagger, barely keeping us both upright. That’s when I see it clearly. Silver. The scent hits first. It burns the inside of my nose. Her side is torn open by a blade wound that has already begun to blacken around the edges. The flesh there is bleeding and swollen, the veins beneath her skin darkening unnaturally. Her forearm is slashed deeply, skin blistered where silver must have kissed it. “They used silver,” I breathe. Her skin is scorching beneath my hands, she has a fever. “Yes,” she murmurs, and even that seems to cost her.

POV: Blaze Ryder "Stop pulling at them, Blaze! You’re not just hitting shadow; you’re hitting your own words!" Rhea’s voice was a frantic chime in the oppressive silence of the Between. Blaze didn't listen. He roared, his russet Alpha flame exploding from his skin in a desperate, jagged halo as he threw his shoulder against the translucent chains binding her to the throne. Blaze who was scared took few steps backwards but suddenly stopped the moment he knew he needed to do something but unknown to him that Xavier’s mind was in what he was doing. Xavier quickly brought out his silver weapon and Blaze’s eyes widened because he never expected him to be with it. Xavier closed his eyes, aiming the silver blade at Blaze’s heart before throwing it. Blaze’s eyes widened the moment he saw the proximity between him and the blade which was directed to his heart.

Her fire, her presence, her silver thread had entered his mind and wolf alike, and there was no denying the tension that now bound them. Silver flames had been kindled. And they would not fade quietly.
