“Didn’t get to finish. I ran into an old friend.” She jerked a thumb toward the German shepherd panting in the back seat.
“And who’s this?”
“Her name is Blondie, and I haven’t seen her in a long time.”
“Well, hello there, Blondie. A pleasure.” He looked closer at the dog. “She’s not—”
“No. She’s not. But I’m keeping her around for a while, just the same.”
Crowe tossed his dark mane back from his face, examining Katie’s collarbone. He frowned. “Pretty rough. I think we could use Irish.” Upon seeing her raised eyebrows, he added, “She is an empath.”
