CHAPTER 2 ‘Row’ Captain Casablanca shouted to the crew onboard, ‘to the blue sea for the raid.’ The pirates shouted with excitement, and sailed on. He stood on the deck of the ship, looking into the water as it flowed, smiled to himself, ‘Life is beautiful.’ He began to think of how soon, he will get all he wanted, through the raid, before Zealot interrupted his thought. ‘Captain, Captain.’ ‘Yes, Zealot, what’s it?’

She times her approach carefully, letting her expression relax into something neutral. Her fingers smooth the front of her jacket as she walks, careful not to rush. The Captain is alone at one of the corner tables, reviewing what looks like a list of rotating assignments. His frown is permanent, his posture stiff even when he’s seated. Bianca approaches slowly, hands folded in front of her. “Captain.” He looks up, surprised, but nods. “Miss Bianca.” She smiles. “I hope I’m not interrupting.” “You are,” he says, but he sets the paper aside anyway.

He pulled his thick wool hat off his head, his hands trembling slightly. "I just intercepted a localized radio transmission from the lower decks," the captain announced, looking directly at Chloe. "The mercenaries on this rig are not hunting you for the Apex Coalition's money anymore." Chloe's heart skipped a painful beat. "What do you mean?"

Suspicion rolled off him in waves. “You didn’t tell me you made new friends,” Asher said, finally glancing at me with a blank look. I folded my arms. “We just met. Like… fifteen minutes ago. And he seems nice,” I added pointedly. Mr captain smiled slightly at that and I threw him a smirk. Asher hummed. “That’s what they all look like in the first fifteen minutes.” I rolled my eyes. “You’re dramatic.” Mr captain laughed softly, moisturising his lower lips with his tongue. “It’s fine. I get it.”

Nathan happened to walk by, stick in hand. I figured that as captain he'd at least do something about the toxic bullying. Instead he was frowning, still griping to the vice-captain. "Our blue-line defense was like wet paper today. Bunch of useless idiots." He didn't even glance at the jerseys strewn across the floor, just took one long stride over them and strode off.
