"If I can't have the Walton legacy, no one will!" He swung the knife, slicing the sleeve of my sweater. I scrambled back, tripping over a chair. Damien loomed over me, his eyes wide and vacant. "Say goodbye, Hazel." He raised the knife, but before he could strike, the front window shattered. A red laser dot appeared on Damien’s chest. "Drop it, Damien!" Bryan’s voice yelled from the darkness outside. Damien froze. He looked at the window, then back at me. A sick smile spread across his face.

She spun, using the momentum of the heavy hammer to pivot on her good leg. She brought the titanium head down with every ounce of rage and grief she had left.
