I moved closer until our faces touched and then started blinking my eyes, letting my eyelashes battle with his. But after blinking a few times, my eyes were already itching so much that I wanted to rub them with my hands. But I stubbornly resisted the urge and continued to blink. After about six times, his eyeballs began to move. His hands that were folded in front of his chest also moved slightly. He wasn't sleeping at all, just deliberately ignoring me. Hmph, I was going to continue blinking even if it was itching terribly. I had to persevere. But he moved before I could continue further.

"This is comfortable." I saw him gulp hard, his Adam's apple bobbing. Finally, he took a deep breath, blinking away from my legs and looking straight ahead. A blind man could see the effort it was taking him to not sneak a glance at my legs. I pressed my lips to prevent the huge grin from decorating my face. My head was spinning with contentment and I was relishing his reaction immensely.

Maybe I should have kept it for dinner. Maybe I should have practiced more, since my eyes made me seem like I was apparently going blind from too much blinking.

My matching eyebrows are another clue. My eyes are also blue but they are so pale that most people think they are colourless. If I didn't have pupils I would probably look completely blind. They make people uncomfortable as they look a bit unnatural. It is for this reason that I have developed a habit of staring at the floor when I greet customers. This might be a problem in a human establishment, but in a place where Shifters and other Magics frequent it is almost expected as a way to avoid any confrontations or battles of dominance.

I automatically pulled my legs closer to my body, trying to stay as far away from him as possible. His eyes were focused on me again, the blue color burning like frost. The most alien part about him was his lack of need to blink. He could stare endlessly for minutes straight. Sometimes, he didn’t even seem human because of the trait. It was innately creepy.
