You'll feel like that, and your eyes will water a lot, but don't you worry, you'll be able to use your eyes properly in no time." He replied. "So, I can see right now?" I asked, and he chuckled.

I could feel a sting in my eyes. It felt like my eyes were poked with sharp pins. My eyes watered. I was testing up. I felt the first drop escape my eyelids but it didn't feel like the usual runny feel of tears. It was thicker and smelt like…. Blood.

BLAISE It’s cold. I blink, eyelids heavy. The right underside of my neck aches with a dull pain, as if I’d slept on it wrong last night. There are blurs of gold, lines streaking vertically across my vision. I blink again, eyes creasing together. The lines slowly come into focus. At first, I’d thought that I was dreaming.

The horrendous image blinking back at me under dim, buzzing bathroom lighting in a cracked mirror is sobering. I look awful, my eyes are starting to circle with the tell-tale blue darkness and the bridge of my nose is swollen and bruised already. My skin pale and blotchy from tears and traces of being unwell and my eyes look red and veiny. The blood cleans away to reveal an ashen face and a swollen top lip. I’m guessing he got me right in the centre of the face and I might be lucky with just a cracked or bashed nose rather than a broken one. It feels extremely tender and makes me nauseous when I touch it.

“It’s okay, Kas. Just look.” I close my eyes and turn toward the mirror. When I open them, I look closely at myself. There are no bruises or signs that someone attacked me. Aphrodite choking my astral form, didn’t leave bruises on my physical form. I blink to make sure what I am seeing is real. I rub my eye, but it doesn’t go away. I wipe my finger on the mirror, but it’s not dirty. Sure enough, in my left eye, the iris has a distinct fleck of violet in the top right corner.
