Because of the psychotherapy, Blaze and Uno knew about each other's existence, though they didn't necessarily agree about the other's decision making. He gripped Astrid's wrist, pulling her away from Jayden's hold. Suddenly, Jayden, now seemingly under an inexplicable force, drove his claws into his chest. "Please stop, please stop. I’m sorry, I was stupid," he wails, struggling futilely against the puppetry of his body. "You shouldn't have touched what was mine! How dare you?" Blaze's growl resounded through the battlefield, a low and minatory undertone that reverberated with possessive fury.

Alma went out with a triumphant smile on her face. Virgil’s expression turned gloomier as he stared at her departing form. To take down a strong alpha, like Blaze, he always required a puppet, like Alma.

Wisteria was pacing inside her room, thinking of what she saw inside Osprey's head. She was about to devour every single memory he had when suddenly, something woke the boy up from his sleep. How fortunate he was to be spared from her power. Still, it doesn't change the fact that she saw the image of the talisman in his head. Selena Comia, the Blitzkrieg blessed human, finished making it, yet she dutifully gave it to someone else.

His neck clicked with a mechanical precision. "Aras...?" Ryan whispered, his sidearm raised. It wasn't the beta anymore. It was the Mother's message. "Return," the puppet murmured, the voice layered with a subsonic growl that vibrated directly in my bone marrow. "Return... to the source." The puppet lunged. I didn't have two hands. I had a silver dagger and a dying Alpha on a chain. I shoved Leo behind me, the chain singing as it snapped taut against my hip. I moved with disjointed speed, my one good hand driving the silver dagger into the puppet's chest.
