Rhea looked at her father, then at the needle and then at me, she knew that the game was over, but she wasn't going to lose alone.
“He's been infected!” She screamed, pointing the needle at me. “This …..this thing attacked him! And got the commander under a scent thrall!”
But the council wasn't looking at me anymore. They were looking at the label on the IV bags still visible in the open safe behind her.
The ice had cracked, I looked at Rhea and for the first time I didn't feel like a victim. I leaned into Kieran, my eyes meeting hers with a cold, terrifying clarity.
