I didn’t answer.
She casually swept her sheet of raven hair to the opposite shoulder, her dark eyes coming to rest on mine. “I didn’t think I’d ever give you my blood so willingly.”
I paused, steeling myself. “I didn’t think I’d ever ever have to give you mine, but here we are.”
Her eyes flashed once, her understanding of my meaning quite clear. “This doesn’t change anything about the twins,” she hissed.
“No, it doesn’t,” I said, detaching the blood bag and reattaching an empty one. “Squeeze,” I instructed. She did, her eyes never leaving my face as I restarted the line. “They are still my children and always will be.”
