I walked to my closet—a room the size of most people's apartments—and pulled out the dress I'd been saving for a special occasion. Deep crimson red. The color of blood and vengeance. It hugged every curve, the slit running dangerously high up my thigh. The back was completely open, exposing flawless skin marked with an intricate tattoo—a phoenix rising from ashes. A reminder of who I had become. I slipped it on, the silk cool against my skin. My hair fell in sleek waves over one shoulder. Diamond earrings—worth more than the Blackwood packhouse—caught the light. My makeup was flawless. Smoky eyes. Sharp contours. Lips the same crimson as my dress.

I scrubbed my skin until it was pink, trying to wash off the lingering sensation of ropes and fear. When I walked back into the bedroom, I looked at the dress. It was a weapon. Deep, blood-red silk. It wasn't designed to cover; it was designed to showcase. It dipped dangerously low in the front and vanished entirely in the back. Beside it sat a pair of black stilettos that looked like instruments of torture and a set of lacy black underwear. “Psychopath,” I muttered. But I put it on.

I sluggishly stand up and stagger my way to the bed to rest and before I can process everything, I doze off. I wake up few minutes later with a little dizziness. I stand up and I rub my eyes and go to the mirror. I soak in my white dress, off shoulder silk dress with gold embroidery which is now turned red and I am in awe. What the hell? It is like splashes of blood.
