He found me pacing the hallway, barefoot, in blood-stained pajamas.
“What the hell happened?” he demanded.
Before I could answer, a doctor burst through the OR doors, sweat glistening on his brow.
“She’s hemorrhaging heavily, uterine blood loss is critical. We need a transfusion, fast.”
“Take mine,” Draven and I said in unison, stepping forward.
“Follow me.”
“Your tattoos don’t disqualify you, right?” he asked.
“Ours were done by healers, sterile, enchanted ink. No infections,” Draven answered.
