I can see the black uniforms of my men scattered throughout the battle, fighting glowing-eyed Tormentians in purple. Distracted by all the blood, I don’t see the wolf-shifter/vampire hybrid sneak up behind me until it’s too late.

“For survival.” Matteo watched her as Lorenzo Moretti's final crest flared onto the board, blood-red and pulsing. “You’ve just declared the last war this world will ever see,” he said quietly. Bianca turned her gaze to him, expression unreadable. “Then let it be worthy of ending everything.” Thunder cracked outside, shaking the ruined glass. Beneath the estate, the sea raged like something alive. The Blood Kingdom had been called to arms. Morning came without light. The sky was a sheet of iron, and the air hung heavy with salt and smoke.

Alpha Axel’s forces, the Bloody Army, surrounded the monastery. Seven hundred armed warriors of the Blood Claw pack, known across the realm as the most formidable force—the bloody army—stood ready, their presence alone send a chill through anyone who dared oppose them. With them came three hundred soldiers from the Flames of the Hunt faith according to Axel's command, their loyalty unwavering to their king and their gods.

"Asra is unlike Venelia in many ways, but perhaps the most startling difference is that magic is much stronger there. There are magical beings that most wolves have never even heard of, let alone seen. My father hunted these beings, burned their homes, and slit their throats, all in the name of the crown. "Just after I was born, my father decided to host a celebration to welcome his heir into the world. At the time, war raged across Asra--I'm sure you're aware that this war was the result of my father's tyrannical rule and was in its twelfth year at the time." He passed her an amber liquid in a crystal cut glass and sat opposite her with a sigh.

His face made a tight lipped expression before he spoke “A very specific request. Drop the money first” I raised the little sack to my face and counted out a silver coin and forty bronze. Then held them in my palm. “Speech for wager” I said He laughed gently “you did not bet your entire sack. Wise move. Word on the street is, there’s a legend or better still a prophecy that is coming to pass” I dropped five bronze coins on the bed. “Word on which street?” “There are a group of rebels. Most from the Hecate’s wheel lineage and some other Townsend”

I grabbed the hem of Felix's shirt, fixed a pitiful expression on my face, and mumbled, "I believe you, Felix." Felix's expression softened as he helped me back to my feet. Taking advantage of the fact that the other wolves' attention was still on us, I retrieved a document from my bag and handed it to Felix. "I accidentally recorded your pup's blood type as AB when I registered his information last time. The truth is, his blood type is O." Felix's face twisted as he snatched the document from me. An eerie silence descended upon the hall. Everyone knew that all the wolves of the Blackrock pack had type-AB blood, making it impossible for a pup with type-O blood to exist in the pack.

she whispered. Kael tilted his head. The baby’s eyes were barely open, unfocused, but when they flickered beneath the dim torchlight, he saw it. Molten gold, faint but there. His blood. His heir. His everything. Outside, the wolves moved with quiet reverence. Bodies were covered. Wounds were stitched. Names of the fallen whispered like prayers. The Hollow had seen battles before, but tonight, something older had been stirred awake. The blood moon had birthed both a life and a war.

"Then let them come." Luis and Pearl step beside me. Their power pulses. Behind us, the Bloodborn army chants: "Unmarked! Unbroken!" The wind howls. The ground quakes. War is coming.

BLOOD AND VOWS --- CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO THE MONEY WAR “Cut a man’s throat and you kill him once. Cut off his money and he dies every day after.” The war had shifted. That much was clear. It was no longer about bodies, bullets, or blood sprayed across marble floors and warehouse walls. This chapter of the war moved quieter, deeper, and far more dangerous—into numbers, offshore transfers, encrypted ledgers, and the bloodless battlefield of finance where a man could lose an army without firing a single shot. Emilia had always known this war would come. It was inevitable. Men like Jace didn’t just build power through violence; they funded it, insured it, turned it into something mathematical and u
