Just as I took my final step toward the rift, something pulsed behind me. A shimmer. A soundless hush, like stars holding their breath. I turned, and there it was. A glow coiled in the air, swirling toward me in a slow, deliberate dance. It hovered at chest height, golden and soft, and then spiraled around my hand like mist drawing breath. The warmth coaxed my fingers open. I obeyed. The light folded inward, tightening… until it bloomed. A flower. A rose. Luminous. Ethereal. Unlike anything I’d ever seen. Its petals shimmered with shifting hues - pearl, moonlight, blood. Eight in total, unfurling slowly in my palm as if just awakened.
