Soulbound
For a moment, the wasteland flickered, showing glimpses of what had been: rivers of light, souls flowing peacefully between worlds without fear, Reapers as guides, not enforcers.
Then the vision collapsed back into dust.
Avery’s voice trembled. “Why show me this? Why now?”
The Pale One lifted a hand. The tether on her chest pulsed, bright enough to hurt.
> Because you carry what they tried to erase. You are Soulbound — the last link to what I was.
Her breath hitched. “I’m not—”
> You are.
