Chapter 3 Lyra's POV "Could you place your luggage here please," the security lady said, pointing to the conveyor belt with a bored expression. I quickly lifted my bag onto the scanning machine, watching it disappear into the tunnel. My chest felt heavier with each passing second. I hadn't slept at all last night, tossing and turning as I tried desperately not to think about Nathan. But every time I closed my eyes, I could see his cold face from yesterday morning, and hear his cruel words echoing in my head.

My breath hitched as I looked up— Straight into the stormy blue eyes of Jake Blaze. Of course. Of course it was him. He stood there with tousled black hair, a leather jacket, and that infuriating smirk that could charm a snake. He was Willow Court High’s walking red flag—the kind parents warned daughters about and teachers pretended not to fear. “Sorry!” I squeaked, scrambling for my books before I cried or screamed—whichever came first. Jake didn’t bother responding. He just walked away, his friends snickering as he joined them.

Blue asked as she walked back to the living room. I took the paper from Lucas, as I read it, “hmmm, it’s no one important.” I said. Blue and Lucas exchange a look and I could tell they were using their mate telepathy to talk with each other. “Don't do that…” I reprimanded them but they just shrugged. “Sorry, force of habit.” Blue said, “So will you answer the question?” I sat down on the couch, “what question?” “Who is the mysterious person named J?” she asked again. I stared at her as I tried to look for a good excuse but none was coming to my head.

I know who he is and I’ve encountered him a couple of times when I was still one of Ahbaya’s boys. Blue was tall with a lean muscular frame. His eyes were as blue as the ocean and his silver long hair reached down to his back.
