Joshua pondered on it, then handed two books to Ambrose. Ambrose took them and read their titles. "Think Like A Woman" and "Women's Deepest Secrets". Ambrose looked at Joshua in confusion. "What are these?" "I bought them on the way here." Joshua pointed at the book covers and said, "These are common must-knows in dating. They are perfect for you to study. Take your time to study and understand it. "When your foundation is firm, then I can teach you more. This is the best that I can do for you!"

Mom supported me, not because she understood, but because she loved me and wanted me to be happy. I stood up and walked around the library, feeling a little restless. They had all of the classics, and some of them looked as though they were expensive copies. Other authors that I regularly read, such as James Patterson and Dean Koontz were on the shelves. They even had some of my female favorites, such as Lisa Jackson, Lisa Gardner and Heather Graham Pozzessere. Then I wondered down to another section where I found some more provocative books. They had a lot. “You are not stupid people and you know why I initially came to the island. Do you think that I am some kind of loose woman?”

I curl my legs up underneath me on the chair and I begin to read. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering the neighborhood. I smile as I read, and on a few occasions I blink back the tears. I feel like I’m having an out of body experience, gifting an elderly woman time with her favorite book before she dies. Suddenly, this is the most important job I have ever had.

I headed back to Danica’s bedroom to check on her one more time. I leaned against the door seeing her knee-deep in the book she was reading. I took a peek at the cover to see what kept her so entranced, and I smiled when I saw it. Man into Woman, written by Lili Elbe and published posthumously in 1933. I watched her as she read the book.

“Be real. What are you even doing here? Shouldn't you be home feeding a baby or folding laundry or something?" Amelia turned her eyes on the last speaker, her gaze cold enough to freeze the air. A slow, sharp smile tugged at her lips. "Who decided women don't belong at this table? Who said we all belong at home, feeding babies and changing diapers? Who the hell made you the boss of what women can or can't do?" In Amelia’s book, if a woman had the strength and courage to stand her ground, she could do whatever the hell she pleased. Amelia’s attitude rubbed some men the wrong way, but the elderly man's eyes held nothing but respect for her.

I raised my brow in question at her. "I know, I know." She laughed with a soft voice. "I promise that I am not a weirdo. I am just curious to see your view on this book. I mean It is rarer to see people read that book." Her words were incessant. Why should people bother to read this book that was about the woman who killed my people? She was not worthy of it. She reminded me of my mom; who was the just replica of her. What was the difference between her and my mom?

Curiosity was eating at her. With an effort, she made herself focus on the other titles. He had books on negotiating, battle tactics, history, agriculture…boring. Didn’t the man read any fiction? A Woman’s Climax. Emotional Need and the Sensual Virgin. There were dozens of titles.
