I go the opposite way, painstakingly reading each and every title. “Callie!” Alice exclaims excitedly. “I think I found something.” I hurry over, seeing her pull a smaller black book off the shelf. There’s no title on this book, only a gold Baphomet overlaid on the leather. “The Book of the Beast,” I whisper, eyes lighting up. “I think you did find something.” She cracks the spine and I lean over, heart racing. And then the library doors open and close with a boom, echoing throughout the entire room. Alice and I both jump, and she quickly shoves the book into her cloak.

I headed toward the back room and started looking for the box she'd mentioned. I was curious why those books weren't allowed to be read freely. Was it because they were old? I opened the box and found several old books with dark brown, tan, reddish, and primarily black leather covers, each with a unique texture. The titles were stamped in faded gold lettering. There were about ten thick books in total. It almost slipped out of my hands when I picked up the last one. It fell to the floor, landing face up to reveal the title: "The Dark History of the Maximillian Kingdom."

When my shift ended, I found myself walking toward the corner table where Kael sat, his laptop closed now, a book in his hands. They looked at the shelves. Ryan grabs all the books he can, with themes that seem relevant to the subject: “The Gods”, “The Demons”, “Forbidden Magical Arts”, “The Powers”, among others, and everyone picks one up and starts leafing through it and reading it. But what catches my eye is s a stack of books I’ve never seen before. They are in several different shades of blue, but all covered in the same material. It looks like a leather but more textured, maybe another animal hide? They have the most beautiful gold writing on them and I am just simply, drawn to them. I want to sit with them and hold them, I want to stroke the covers and open them but not just read them I want to devour the contents of these books. It’s a weird feeling. I feel as drawn to them as I do to Leo.

Emma said, walking deep into the living room. "Thanks." She walked to a set of shelves on the far side of the room, running her fingers over the spines of his books.
