MISERABLE AT BEST

MISERABLE AT BEST

I refused to join them because I don't like to pretend I was enjoying a vacation when I have a lot of things going on in my mind. I started reading the book Aae left as a gift for Christmas. He went home while Tita Annly spent the breaks at the hospital. Like me, she's not fond of celebrating. I just visited the church during Christmas Eve and watched the fireworks outside the porch. It was sad, but I like it. I made a lot of realizations these past few days. I already touched the soft edge of the book when my eyes caught a glimpse of the flower pot near my coffee. The pink-fern like petals were swaying a little as the wind brushed against my hair.

Used My Holiday to Tear Down the So-Called Queen

Used My Holiday to Tear Down the So-Called Queen

"My son has a school art contest. Everyone, vote for Number 6. Get your friends and family to do it, too. "My brother has a working quota to meet at his bank. Everyone needs to sign up for a credit card through him. "My cousin's farm has recently had fresh produce. Who's buying?" If anyone were to scroll through our work group chat, there was barely any actual work, just a never-ending list of demands and instructions from Eileen. Then came the Thanksgiving holidays. I was blissfully asleep at home when Eileen started calling everyone individually at 2:00 am. She wanted us to get up and give a video of her son a like.

Christmas Memory

Christmas Memory

Maybe if she waited until Wednesday, a few more sales would come through and she could mail them all at the same time. The door chimed and a local couple she knew from church came in. “Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Howard. How are you?” Memory went about helping Mrs. Howard find a gift for her niece, trying not to let her father’s news about the new B and B keep her from enjoying the holiday spirit. Christmas really was the most wonderful time of the year, even if this one felt a little off without Grandma Helen. She put a smile on her face and got to work, glad to stay busy to keep her mind off of what she’d lost.

Dirty Christmas

Dirty Christmas

The Christmas market in Evergreen Hollow buzzed with life despite the biting December chill. Strings of twinkling lights draped over wooden stalls, and the air carried the scent of mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, and fresh gingerbread. It was the town's biggest holiday event, drawing locals and visitors alike. The 32 year old Lila Voss had come back from Seattle for the season, escaping the corporate grind of her marketing job. Single after a messy divorce, she craved the simple joys of her childhood home, but loneliness nipped at her heels like the wind.

All I Want for Christmas is Pooch

All I Want for Christmas is Pooch

“What items would those be?” “There are several,” Brady said, undeterred by their attitudes. He hadn’t expected this job to be easy, after all. “For example, the Christmas festivities. I haven’t been in town long, but my understanding is that Christmas used to be a special time here in Holiday Hills. Now, it seems to be more of an afterthought.”

Love's Inferno: When Fire Meets Ice

"Oh, thank you, Sam." Doris and Max stepped into the grand foyer of the mansion, immediately struck by the opulence of the holiday decor. The marble floors were polished to a high sheen, and the walls were hung with lavish paintings of winter scenes. A large Christmas tree towered in the corner, decorated with twinkling lights and glittering ornaments. The air was filled with the scent of evergreen and the strains of festive music, giving the space a magical, holiday feeling. Doris and Max felt as though they had stepped into a winter wonderland.

The writing was good. Interesting twists in the story. However, I got irritated when Doris was being immature. Love how 8 years old Nora and 4 years old Max acted and spoke mature. Hated that the transition between events was not always smooth and the wrong gender was used often. Nice, happy ending.

Thrill of the Chase

Thrill of the Chase

I tried not to dwell on it, but a conversation with my brother on the night before New Year's Eve was one of those moments when I couldn't avoid thinking about it, no matter how comforting his wise words were. ... "Are you asleep yet?" Alex asks quietly, peering into my bedroom. I put down my current book, "Problems" by Jada Sharma, a Christmas gift from our grandparents. It's been an engaging and relatable read, but I set it aside and motion for my brother to come in.

The Dangerous Game of Seduction

The Dangerous Game of Seduction

I said. " Don't think so much, accept them with a sweet thank you. Someone must have made a lot of effort to find suitable gifts for you without any help. At least appreciate the efforts. " Chris said. I wanted to argue but Aunt Sophie shook my head and signaled me to open them. I did open the first one. I was surprised when I removed the wrapping paper, it was a book, a book?? Really? I gasped when I saw it was, PANTONE VIEW Home + Interiors 2024 book.

His Deadly Obsession

His Deadly Obsession

Her wanderings led her to a momentary pause, her gaze fixated on a room visible through the translucent Thai glass. Intrigued by the mysterious room, Hazel gingerly turned the knob and stepped into what appeared to be a sanctuary of knowledge, lined with towering bookshelves. The air inside was laced with the scent of aged paper. What is it? Is he really fond of books? Her fingers traced the spines of the books. Unable to resist the allure, Hazel reached for a book titled "Little Women." Leaning against its edge, she resisted the urge to sit and instead propped herself up, opening the book to its first page.
