His eyes never left my face, and I just couldn't bring myself to stare back at him. I was about to leave when I spotted the book he was reading from the corner of my eyes. He had closed the book when I walked in, so I saw the cover and title, "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. I looked up at him in astonishment, "I didn't think you would be interested in classic literature."

His smile was warm, but it only made the ache in my chest grow stronger. I smiled back, but deep down I was upset. I really wished he’d had just left. Anyways, I went ahead to sit beside Cole, who had already taken a spot beside him. The cushions were soft, almost too soft, and they seemed to swallow me whole as I sank into them. My eyes picked out the title of the book that he was reading. It was “Bound by Hatred.” This was one of my favorite dark romance novels I read as a teen. The sight of it brought back a flood of memories, bittersweet and poignant.

They were chatting quietly, waiting for the author. I instantly recognized the book as A Black and White World by one of my favorite author's Zara Jones. My palms began to sweat as we sat down in the back. "Oh my God Callum, I could die right now." I whispered in excitement.

He held open the door for me, as I got inside, holding the book I had brought close to my chest. "What are you reading today?" He asked, as he started up the engine, he smiled looking over at me. "The Beautiful and The Damned", I told him and he picked up on the title. "You're reading Fitzgerald", he asked, recognizing it from his own collection. "Read it to me", he asked, and I looked at him as if he was serious, but he just kept his eyes on the road. So I started with the first page, reading it up until we got to the breakfast cafe.
