When I got home, Tristan was in the kitchen cooking. He looked up when I walked in and smiled. “You’re back? How was the trip?” “It went well.” I changed my shoes, set my suitcase aside, and walked over to him, glancing into the pot. It was my favorite pork ribs. “What’s the occasion?” I asked with a smile. “I missed you.” He turned and kissed my forehead. The second his lips touched my skin, my stomach lurched. The same hands that had killed my best friend were cooking for me.

The effect was so blazing; it was a lucky thing I was not on fire. Why my friend suddenly stopped, I did not know though. Maybe she was surprised to finally meet the magnetic boss my kids had been talking about. Whatever it was, I was amused to say it took a brush of my elbow to bring my friend to wakefulness and even then, it was slightly embarrassing to see her giving the man a thorough glance. And strange enough, my friend was not ashamed even when it was obvious the man knew what she was doing and he found it to be amusing.

"Take care, okay? I will call you to know if I will drop by or not." "Okay. You too take care." He smiled at me before walking out the door. And as he left, my room suddenly became empty, but I was comforted by his scent that was still strong and embedded on my shoulders and clothes. I rested back against the headboard, with my eyes closed. I had finally found a word, or rather words, to describe this weird feeling of mine—I was falling for my best friend, Liam!

How on earth did I never try to ask anything about her and kept bragging about my newly found chosen mate?
