Its skin was stretched over its ribs. But the hiding man didn’t underestimate the creature.

It had no title on the front, and was bound in a plain, faded purple cover. It was handwritten, rather than printed, with neat, slanting penmanship that had clearly been laboured over. I flicked through it idly, and then I began to read.

I was late morning when Tristan entered the room pulling my head of the book, I looked at him in slight amazement. “We have the conference call in twenty minutes.” He greeted stepping into the room as I looked up. “What?” He asked and I held up the book. “Tristan, this book.” I stated not really knowing how to explain it. “It’s a novel, just a story that I found in the library, but it’s based on a family of werewolves, the two daughters, twins, were born with a special gift, they could produce fire and ice.” I uttered and watched as his brows rose. “They later became joint alphas of the their pack. Do you think this could be the story of the alpha twins that we were looking for?”

I didn’t hesitate. I pulled Fifty Shades of Grey first (cliché, yes, but I needed an entry point), then The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice, Story of O, a slim volume called The New Topping Book just to balance it out, and two anthologies with titles like Bound Hearts and Surrender to Me. The stack felt heavy in my arms, like contraband. I carried them to the my corner and hid them under the table. I sat down, and opened the first book.

Afterward, they soon got to parts of the mansion where Claire wasn't familiar, and she couldn't help but marvel as she saw that the other oars were just as beautiful. They later got to an alleyway, and Ryan stopped them. When my father brought me here, he said that it was best to turn off the lights to get the feel of the place better. Ryan turned off the lights, and they were left in complete darkness. Claire couldn't believe that they would continue the journey in that darkness when Ryan put on a lighter and gave Claire a thick candlelight to carry. They would now have to use an ancient candlelight, which awed Claire as she didn't know any of those existed.
