Set in a future Bangkok after fossil fuels have been depleted and climate change has ravaged the world, it features bio-engineered plagues, calorie-based economies run by agri-corporations, and 'New People'—genetically modified beings treated as property.

The world is dense, sweaty, and brilliantly realized. It's a story about exploitation, resilience, and adaptation at the end of the age of oil. The tension between the Thai kingdom's traditionalists and the relentless corporate 'calorie men' is gripping. It's a challenging, immersive read that feels terrifyingly plausible.
