I tried my best to click the heart button on my readers’ comments on my recent post. And ever since Pauline came to my life, I started writing a book about being a single mother which became a physical book after I finished writing it. My readers are thinking that my book about being a single mother is inspired of one of my readers, little did they know that it is inspired on my own experience being a single mother. And I know that my book about being a mother has a big impact on my readers especially those who are a single mother. They were commenting about their own experience which made me agree to them because I’ve also experienced those.

I pressed my palms to my eyes until spots danced. I couldn’t go out to hustle. The neighborhood already looked at me sideways—poor single mom, ex-wife of the Blackwood heir, the woman who lost everything. They whispered. They pitied. They judged. If I started cleaning houses or waiting tables they’d nod like they’d always known I’d end up here. But I was willing. I’d scrub floors on my knees if it meant the kids ate more than spaghetti and rice. The problem was childcare. No one to keep them with.

"Unwed woman knocks herself up—bet she doesn't even know who the dad is, acting all high and mighty. What kind of star kids could someone like her pick? Be a miracle if she didn't wreck them!" Classic. Nothing rattles a man more than a woman who doesn't need him—they always drag it straight into the gutter. I dropped the IVF documents online with one line: [A woman can be a mother on her own. Men, kindly step aside.] Then I plugged our new campaign: [Single Moms Save the World. Sign-ups open now!] Our official page blew up: [Dakota Dawson is a queen! Men are just sperm donors—keep away!] [Single mom here. This gave me hope. Nothing to be ashamed of.]

I murmured, feeling a little flustered under her kind gaze. “You know, I was so worried about you that day," she continued, leaning closer as though sharing a secret. "I thought you didn’t have a husband and would have to raise this baby on your own. It’s such a relief to see you have a partner by your side. Raising a child alone is... difficult. People can be so cruel, judging single mothers like they’re lesser." Her words stung, pulling me back to that day—the looks, the whispers, the judgment.

“Complicated? Or irresponsible? Did you even know who the father was?” A sharp gasp came from gallery. My uncle muttered something under his breath that sounded like a threat. I lifted my chin. “I know exactly who Gabe’s father is,” I said. “And the circumstances were complicated. That doesn’t make me a bad mother.” Kara opened her mouth again, but I cut her off. “And for the record,” I added, “being a single mother doesn’t make me unfit. Working two jobs doesn’t make me unfit. Caring for my grandmother doesn’t make me unfit. It makes me responsible.”

“I know we just met today and I’m nobody to you---” “T-Thank you,” now I’m the one who feels embarrassed. “I’m the mother here, and yet I don’t know how I should treat my daughter in the right way.” I looked outside the glass wall of the restaurant and saw lots of people walking around. “It’s hard being a single mother, raising my child alone after what we had been through before, but I can’t give up. I swear that I would do anything for Kiara, she’s the center of my life. So, if facing my trauma would help her, then I will gladly do it without thinking twice.”

She needed her when she was pregnant but she never found her. She claimed to have been thinking about her and yet, she never tried to find her where abouts.
