Novel & Cerita Books Like A Flicker In The Dark

The old university library smelled of aged paper and secrets. It was past eleven when I slipped between the tall shelves in the restricted section, heart racing. No one was supposed to be here this late, but I couldn’t resist. My fingers trembled as I pulled out a worn leather book titled Forbidden Desires of the Victorian Age. The pages held explicit stories that made my cheeks burn and my body ache.

, Ashton said. I ignored them and went to check for an interesting book that I could purchase. Jack and Ashton kept on talking and laughing but I didn’t pay them any attention. Jack was funny and I liked that about him. I found a book that seemed nice and pulse-racing, Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts.

Ina. Fluorescent lights above appeared to quiver, or not quiver, out of the need for a vision spinning on the tip of grasp—Lily's eyes darting too quickly as memories liked to creep into them and swallow her whole. "She no longer drops by—she stays here," she breathed. Dr. Anselm nodded, calm. "Are there flashbacks?" Lily exhaled. It was not a laugh, not quite. More the sound that had forgotten how to remember joy.

And this is how the last story about Light and Darkness that I wanted to present to you ends. It was certainly an extraordinary journey, showing different stories, but at the same time touching the same topic - can two such opposing poles as Light and Darkness connect at some point? I'll leave it to your own choice, but one thing is for sure - as Miyuki said in Book 4, wanting to stop the battle between vampires and wizards - Light and Darkness certainly couldn't exist without each other. If there was only Light but no Darkness, what would be its meaning? Likewise, if there was only Darkness in the world, wouldn't its existence be pointless without trying to "devour" the Light?

Damn it, this wasn't an action movie. I growled at something very rude, fasted my M19 harder, and sprinted down the sidewalk on this side of the street. I never let our prey out of my sight for a moment. It was almost like a slalom. Again and again I had to avoid people and then I almost ran into a shelter. There was room for a handful of people in these small buildings. If you had to get to safety from a prole, you could run in there, seal the room and call the venators from inside via an emergency column.

I pushed it open wider. The room was cool and dark, shelves towering like silent guardians. I flicked on one small switch on the wall, and amber lights pooled across the entire room and over the shelves. My eyes ran through the sections—romance section, classics and thrillers. I ran my fingers along the spines, looking for something thick, something to lose myself in until sleep finally came. I saw a first-edition Jane Austen. A modern dark romance with a brooding cover. It was a fantasy series Mirabel had raved about.

Klark, ‘Tribid Greed’ by Steve Reynolds, and a lot of other books. One by one Trisha returned all the books she'd picked. When she was beginning to get tired and unmotivated, the corner of her eyes perceived a strange book on a shelf not too far from where she was. Its spines were tattered and appeared like spiky wires beneath the poor lighting.

Her footsteps echoed like questions. In the far corner of the chamber, a book pulsed with subtle light. It was bound in worn, dark leather, edges trimmed in iron that shimmered with residual power. As she neared, the hum intensified, vibrating in the pit of her stomach. It recognized her. Or perhaps it remembered her. Her hand trembled as she reached out. The cover creaked open. The pages did not stay still. They burst to life, casting shimmering illusions into the air—living memories unfolding like dreams.

The morning light filtered weakly through the curtains, casting fractured patterns on the floor — much like my thoughts, splintered and jagged. I sat at the small kitchen table, clutching my cup of cold coffee, staring at the leather-bound book *Reflections of the Forgotten* open before me. The stories inside weren’t just tales — they were warnings, lessons written in sorrow and hope. Women who had lived as shadows, trapped in lives borrowed from others, fighting to reclaim their own reflections.

And yet, here I am, ensuring she’ll never truly be alone again. I walk toward her bed and notice a book lying on the nightstand—Sick for Them. A smirk tugs at my lips. She has a taste for dark things, darker than she lets on. I flip to the page where I last left off, getting lost in the story, just like I always do when I’m here. Sitting on her bed, reading her books—hours melt away while she’s out living her life, oblivious to how intertwined our worlds have become.
