The lantern’s light dances wildly, its movements jarring and unpredictable. It’s like the flickering of my thoughts—disjointed, fragmented, struggling to come together.

Now. Kelvin’s grip tightened, his breath ragged against my throat as he steered me backward, toward the bed. My heart hammered, a trapped bird thrashing against my ribs. I wanted to push him away. Scream. Run. But my body was no longer mine to control. Then— Flicker. The lights stuttered, a sudden, jarring interruption. The bulbs hissed like angry serpents, their glow dimming, flaring, then dimming again, painting the walls with grotesque, leaping shadows.

Liam looked at the ceiling when the four-eyed light suddenly flickered, adding to the fear in the area. Because of the flickering fluorescent light, the light casts unsettling shadows.
