I stood outside for a full minute, debating whether to just slip the book through the mail slot and run. But the book was rare — a 1923 first edition of The Great Gatsby with handwritten notes in the margins, and I couldn’t risk damaging it.

When I finished the stew, as well as the piece of bread I used to sop up the rest, I placed the tray over onto the table sitting between the chairs. I had roamed through some of the books, pulling out a classic, 'The Great Gatsby', then sat back down by the fire, cuddled up in a blanket as I began to read. Thinking about how I would sit in my lowly dank room when I was in trouble. This was the opposite of what I was used to when being in trouble. Warm food, a fire, blankets, comfort really, all different from that cold room that held a chair and a bed along with whatever books my mother could smuggle down to me for entertainment.

I can’t tell where they are, but judging by their clothes, this photo looks like it was taken either at a Great Gatsby-themed party or this photo is really that old. There’s a library off the living room, and I spend a minute looking at the types of books Lucas likes to read. One is sitting out on his desk with the page he was on dog-eared. A lot of them were classics, novels by Dickens, Voltaire, Dumas, Melville, and Hemingway. She smiled when her fingers ran over the spine of not one, but three copies of Mitchell's Gone with the Wind. There were modern novels, too, including Stephen King and Sidney Sheldon, but they didn't look as well read as some of the others.

I turned, looked at him again. Rhysand smiled, and two damn dimples appeared. "I've read The Great Gatsby." He replied arrogantly, and then he grimaced. "But I just stopped at the first page, I'm sleepy." I'm laughing. "Hey, at least I tried." "Yeah, of course, at least you tried." I looked back at the beautiful books and dissolved to read the titles. I made mental notes to create my own library when I built my own castle later.

She stopped abruptly, then turned to me, “What are your favourites? I mean, apart from Pride and Prejudice. I tilted my head, “You want to know?” She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, and I wished I had noticed it first. “Tolstoy, Fitzgerald, and Baldwin.” “The Great Gatsby?” She asked, “Of course, you're the type of man who'll admire Gatsby. Rich, brilliant but lonely as hell.” She went on a full rant about Gatsby then, her hands gesturing animatedly, and I never wanted her to stop.

The key fonts were crisp, the glow promising pages I’d only dared to dream of. The largest box held rare first editions of The Great Gatsby, Lolita, 1984—books I’d read in borrowed copies, from uninspiring editions or library dogs and mildew. Now they lay before me, pristine: rich mahogany leather, gold leafing on the spines. My breath caught in my chest; owning even one would’ve been impossible. Now I had three. I traced Gatsby’s title with trembling fingers, it felt like a betrayal or a blessing. Last came the envelope, heavy, thick lines beneath my name. I opened it, life slowing. Ink flowed in clear handwriting:

Edward Swift has not moved from where he had been sitting earlier and he still had the same book in his hands. After the tall man left the room I waited until Edward would put his book down and actually listen to what I have to say but he didn’t. I realized that he wasn’t reading the book but just staring at the pages considering how his eyes didn’t move along the lines and how he would not turn the pages over. “The Great Gatsby, what a book.” I awkwardly said. “You have read this book?” he asked with that terrifying frown still on his face. “Yes” I lied. I haven’t read the book but I have seen the movie “It was such a shame that a man like Gatsby had to die for a crime he didn’t commit.” I

I sat myself down on the thin bed she had on the floor, seeing an alarm clock that had a setting of 3:30 am while she had a few books scattered throughout the area. 'The Great Gatsby' 'Nicholas Nickelby' 'Catcher in the Rye' along with a few I didn't recognize, yey they were all classics. All things that just showed how truly remarkable she was. Thumbing through the novels I was taken aback by the amount of notes she had within the margins, she was truly a remarkable person, brilliant at that. Her compassion through her hardships, her sheer unwavering love or want to be kind to others even when shunned for most of her life just proves that she was always meant to be Luna, my Luna.
