Books Like Playground Novels & Stories

Chapter 145 BIANCA The three children sat in their corner of the playground, surrounded by books and dinosaurs, entirely unconcerned with the running and shouting happening around them. The girl had opened one of her books and was reading something aloud—I could tell from the way Theo was listening, head slightly tilted, the posture of someone taking in information. The boy had his book open on the ground in front of all three of them, something with photographs, something they could all look at together.

Loudy, who has the most adventurous spirit, asks, "What is the playground like?" "It's a big place with lots of games. There are swings, slides, and sometimes even a Ferris wheel! You can run all you want." The twins' eyes lit up at Evan's description. They had never imagined a world full of such things. All this time, their lives had been confined to the house and the surrounding yard. "Let's play now!" exclaimed Loudy suddenly, unable to contain her excitement any longer.

Maxine’s POV Playgrounds. Playgrounds are a great part of childhood. This place give joy and excitement to the young boys and girls that climb, slide and explore. Adler and I were one of them. After classes, we always play in the nearest playground in their village and the most familiar thing about it is the swings.

* *Name the place. I thought of the little playground two blocks over—the one with the rusty slide and the benches no one ever used because it was tucked behind an old church. No paparazzi would think to look there. No one would care. *Playground on Maple and 14th. 3 PM? Kids can play. We can talk.* *I'll be there. Bring them snacks if you want. I can stop for something.* *We have crackers.* *Then I'll bring better crackers.* A laughing emoji. Then a heart. Just one. Small. Careful.

“Thank you for meeting with us.” She beams, shaking his hand, then shakes mine. “Thank you for considering our school. This is quite the honor!” After that, we get started on the tour. Dr. Elliot takes us through classrooms designed for different age groups. The kindergarten rooms have reading nooks with plush pillows, art stations with every supply imaginable, and small tables perfectly sized for five-year-olds. The playground in particular, though, takes my breath away. There’s a large jungle gym that looks like a treehouse village, a garden with all kinds of different plants, and several quiet areas with benches under shady trees.

The iron swing on the old rusty rack and several seesaw board that was placed on the cement ground of this old but neat playground should have some pit or pothole caused by bullets and explosions. These tell anyone who saw it that this small playground in the middle of the highrise was the territory of some strong forces in this war-torn city. Zhu Wushang who arrived at the entrance of this not-so-abandoned playground stood at the old chain link fence. His spiritual sense had detected more than a dozen people who were arm to the teeth on the higher floor of the nearby highrise building.

“The kids are out here. Have fun with them!” Before I could thank her, she was already halfway down the hall, running like one who was being chased by a legion of demons. Sighing, I stepped out of the door, to the playground, and my eyes widened with delight. The outdoor space was a wonderland, designed to spark imagination and physical activity. Vibrant play structures, including a climbing wall slide, and monkey bars, settled amidst a sea of lush green grass. Swings, seesaws, and sandboxes completed it all.

James had no concept of indoor voice when he was performing. "This is the market." August was pointing at a cluster of blue blocks with the authority of a tiny city planner. "And this is the library. Libraries are important because they have books." "They are very important." Patricia was nodding seriously, cross-legged on my living room floor in her expensive slacks, not a single complaint about the carpet or the noise. "What kind of books do you like?" "All of them." August considered. "But mostly the ones about animals. And space. And animals in space."

At three, she was open-hearted and inquisitive in a good way; she welcomed me with the warmth of a child still innocent to the wayward evils in the world. Ana, the older kid, was hesitant at first, but when she sensed Alaina having a grand time, she joined in. Time flew past as we frolicked in the castle’s manicured playground. The playground had all the adventure features kids would look for; swings, slides, ladders, seesaws, a sand garden and a running track appropriate for children.

*SATURDAY | 4:00PM | ELENA’S APARTMENT | IKoyi | PLAYGROUND BY THE SWIMMING POOL* The afternoon sun was melting into gold. Elena’s apartment had this corner nobody used for business. A small playground. White swing set with blue seats. A tiny yellow slide. Rubber mats in bright colors. Hibiscus and bird-of-paradise plants in big white pots. Past the gate, the infinity pool shimmered. You could hear water lapping softly.
