Books Like Playground Novels & Stories

“That’s the gymnasium. And over there is the library.” The library had its own building. I stopped walking for half a second before forcing myself forward again. My old school could have fit inside it and still left room for storage. “Oh my God,” Penny breathed. “Is that a pool house?” “Yes,” Shirley said, smiling. Penny grabbed my hand like she needed grounding. Her eyes sparkled, soft and hopeful. “I love this school.” I wanted to love it too. I really did. But the longer we walked, the more the place pressed down on me. The awkward stares. The whispers that stopped just short of being audible. The quiet confidence of students who had never doubted they belonged.

Baka ka-apilyedo niya lang. Itinabi ko ang files nilang dalawa. This two agent knows each other and Zykiel is from WSA and probably, Nayla too. Bumaba na ako ng sumapit ang ala una. Wala ng mga agent sa pasilyo na kasalukuyan pang under construction na mga palapag. Tuloy tuloy akong bumaba hanggang sa lobby.

THE LONG parade had driven them to the side of the small playground. The place seemed abandoned. There was not a single person there, far from the road where they came from after leaving the restaurant. The swing near the entrance was rusty and the merry-go-round next to it broke after a long time. It tilted badly on one side. Old newspapers that were blown by the winds from the trash can had scattered to the ground.

Oh, right, the Horror Camp. I spent the rest of the afternoon in the dayroom. Following Amy’s suggestion, Brett and the other medium had brought some toys: colored balloons, balls, ragdolls, cars. Since the twins didn’t need the magnetic boards anymore, I’d brought them for the Pennhurst children. So there I was, reading on my phone one of my school books, when a ball rolled shyly to come stop a foot away from me. I knew I wouldn’t keep reading and put my phone away.

Silver said. As they walked past the rows of buildings, she started talking to them about the rules and some of the things they have that could benefit a child and would want to make them learn faster than ever. There was a large playground…each sports activity that wasn't strenuous had its sports ground, be it basketball, football, tennis courts, etc, and both the senior and junior were allowed to use them during breaks or permission to do so.

Somewhere to my left, a man sold steaks, the smell drifting in lazy curls that made my stomach tighten. The moment we stepped onto the soft, uneven ground, Lee ran off toward the swings, her little legs pumping with surprising speed. Sami followed, but not before glancing back at me with that quiet, responsible look of his, as though making sure it was alright to run ahead. I waved him on. I found a bench near the center of the playground where I could see everything- the swings, the slide, the small wooden climbing frame painted in reds and blues and the seesaw creaking under the weight of two squealing boys.

I replied while signing the visitor log. He buzzed me in and the heavy iron gate clicked open. I stepped onto the manicured grass of the massive playground, adjusting the strap of my purse on my shoulder. Teachers in bright polo shirts stood in small groups while they kept an eye on the chaotic swarms of running toddlers. A group of boys kicked a red ball past my feet, but I ignored them and scanned the yard.

I was stuck here. (Flashback Ends) "So that was how toy came to this pack, wow," Issac said after I recounted my story. I simply smiled and ruffled his hair. "Nina! Isaac!" Someone called our. Not just someone, Blossom. She was the only one that came in her unannounced like that. "Blossom!" Issac called excitedly as he rushed to hug her. "Hello, little boy," she teased him "I am not little," he pouted. "Thank you for the food,"

I placed the thermos of coffee next to me, along with some biscuits, and then I started reading the book. Before I knew it, I had read almost half of the book. While eating my sandwich, I glanced at my playmate and saw Jensen walking toward the deeper part of the playground. I thought nothing negative because I knew there were several park rangers assigned there by the city government. Adults could not enter the playground. So, I let Jensen stay there to play until he got bored. After finishing my sandwich, I went back to reading, not knowing that I would regret my decision later. Jensen Howard

human children. But as we set up our blanket and basket in a nice shady spot near the lake but not far from the playground, I couldn’t help looking over the swings, jungle gym, climbing wall, and the rest with a jaundiced eye. There was nothing there more dangerous or challenging than what you’d find in a “for humans” park. It was all just a lot nicer, with fresh paint and soft new mats.
